CARD was born from HELVETAS, a prestigious Swiss organization that operated in Cameroon for decades, implementing ruraldevelopment projects across the country.
When HELVETAS departed Cameroon in 2007, we continued their legacy — bringing Swiss precision, engineering rigor, and community-centered development to rural communities.
Today, CARD stands as an independent, registered non-profit organization with our head office in Bamenda, North West Region. We are non-political, non-profit, and uncompromising in our commitment to quality infrastructure.
Built to last, designed with community
No project begins without thorough hydrogeological studies, soil
testing, and community needs assessment. We design water schemes
by gravity (stream/spring intake) or solar-powered boreholes
based on what the land allows.
Beneficiary communities contribute local labor, materials, and
form management committees. They own the infrastructure from day
one. We empower — we don't impose.
Through General Community Education (GCE), we train caretakers
and management committees on repairs, maintenance, and financial
management. We don't build and leave. We build, train, and
remain accessible.
